Truman, Cesc Gay, Spain, 2015
Presented by the director of the film
Original version in Spanish with English subtitles

After years of silence, Julián receives an unexpected visit from his friend, Tomás, who lives in Canada. Over four action-packed days, the two men, accompanied by Julián’s faithful dog, Truman, will share emotional and surprising moments, the result of Julián’s complicated situation.

Truman triumphed at the 2016 Gaudí and Goya awards thanks to Darín and Cámara’s enormous savoir faire as they dive deep into the sea of human emotions. Tenderness, optimism and bittersweet feelings enrich this cinematic journey, which transforms words from the past but never confessed into a moving homage to the present and to life.

20.45 pm – CONCERT
Núria Graham (pop)

The concert to open this year’s Sala Montjuïc film festival will showcase the pure, finely-wrought pop of Núria Graham, a singer-songwriter not affected by passing trends. Graham’s debut album, Bird Eyes (2015), featured a series of well-rounded, modern tracks, like sound landscapes that the listener never tires of visiting. This year, she presents In the cave, a darker work on which she performs three of her own songs plus a version, adopting a style in which atmosphere is more important than voice. With a short but intense career already under her belt, this Vic-born musician has become one of the female singer-songwriters most in demand on the Catalan music scene today.

Núria Graham: vocals and guitar
Aleix Bou: drums and samplers
Jordi Casadesús: various instruments
