Cine-concert: The Circus, Charles Chaplin, USA, 1928
Version with original intertitles in English, with Spanish subtitles

Chaplin unexpectedly becomes the star of a travelling circus. At every performance, our hero accidently causes havoc, much to the delight of the audience. During this glorious period as a circus artist, he falls in love with Merna, the director’s daughter, though she has given her heart to the tightrope walker. The famous Tramp, with his trademark moustache and bowler hat, meets the Big Top, and all manner of adventures ensue!

Chaplin’s last silent movie, one of the biggest box-office hits in the genre, is recognised as an all-time classic. With his unique take on life, the director and leading player creates a tender tragicomedy filled with laughter and tears.

Ayra

Ayra take the listener on a sonic journey through flamenco, Brazilian music, Afro-Cuban rhythms and soul. The four band members, who all come from different musical backgrounds, compose pieces that defy conventional structure. The group started out in early-2014, subtly weaving stories played on guitar and flute. Their unusual flamenco and Brazilian sounds later fused with Afro-Cuban rhythms and a vocalist with jazz, soul and indie influences. This year, Ayra will release their first studio recording.
